An AI slideshow maker turns a set of photos into a finished video: it orders the pictures, times each one, adds motion, writes and records narration, captions it and exports the formats each screen needs. For one personal slideshow, a free phone or design app is enough. For a business with many listings, products or pages, Videngine makes a narrated, captioned slideshow from each one's own photos, many at a time, reviewed before it goes out.

What an AI slideshow maker does
A slideshow video maker does six jobs, and the AI part is usually the words, not the pictures.
- Choose and order the photos, from a wide opening shot to the details.
- Time each photo, ideally to a sentence of narration rather than a fixed beat.
- Add motion, usually a slow zoom or pan so a still doesn't look frozen.
- Write and record narration that says what the photos can't: the price, the specification, the reason to care.
- Caption it, so the video still works with the sound off.
- Export each format: 16:9 for a website or YouTube, 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok, and 1:1 or 4:5 for feeds.
An AI slideshow maker is not the same as an AI image-to-video generator, which animates one still photo into a short clip of motion that was never filmed. The two are compared in image to video AI vs a photo slideshow.
Three kinds of slideshow maker
Slideshow makers split by how many videos you need and who does the editing.
| Kind | Good for | Who does the work |
|---|---|---|
| Phone and computer built-ins | Personal slideshows set to a song | You pick photos; the app suggests the rest |
| Design and editing tools | One designed video at a time, edited by hand | You, in a template or on a timeline |
| Automated slideshow makers | A video for every listing, product or page | The software, from your data; a person reviews |
Named tools in each group, described from their own websites, are in the best slideshow makers. For a business photo video tool compared directly with Videngine, see Videngine vs Animoto, and for design templates, Videngine vs Canva.
Slideshows for businesses
A business slideshow is worth automating when the photos already exist for every item and the items keep changing.
| Business | Photos come from | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Estate and lettings agents | Each property listing | Real estate listing video |
| Vehicle dealers | Each vehicle in stock | Car dealer video |
| Boat brokers | Each boat for sale or charter | Boat listing video |
| Shops and brands | Each product page or catalogue row | Product video automation |
| Marketplaces | Every seller's listing | Marketplace listing video |
| Publishers | An article's own images | Publisher video |
What makes a slideshow look professional
A slideshow usually looks amateur for one of five reasons, and each has a fix.
| Problem | Fix | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Soft or small photos | Use originals; flag photos under 1,000 px on the long side | How to make a slideshow |
| Photos in a random order | Wide shot first, then details, then a closing card | How to make a slideshow |
| Frozen stills or seasick motion | A slow zoom toward the subject, never under text | Ken Burns effect |
| Music louder than the voice | Keep music as a quiet bed under narration | Slideshow with music |
| Landscape photos cropped badly in 9:16 | Place them over a blurred fill instead of cropping | Vertical slideshow |
How Videngine makes slideshows
Videngine makes narrated slideshows from a page, a listing or a row of data, using that source's own photos.
It reads the photos from the page, or from photo URLs in a CSV or JSON row, and asks for the original when a site serves resized copies. Photos smaller than a 1080p frame needs are enlarged with a Lanczos filter and a light sharpen, never more than three times, and each photo is graded so the studio can flag the soft ones. AI writes the script from the page's facts and records the narration in a house voice, another synthetic voice or your own uploaded audio. Each photo gets a slow zoom and a short fade in; a photo that doesn't fit the frame sits over a blurred fill of itself, so a landscape photo works in 9:16 without losing the subject. Captions are transcribed from the finished audio, and an optional quiet music bed can sit under the voice.
One source usually gives a 9:16 and a 16:9 cut, up to 1080p, and batch runs make one video per row or page. Every video is reviewed in the studio, then downloaded, delivered to Google Drive, published to YouTube or published into the page it was made from with its markup. Plans are priced per finished video, from $79 a month for 50: see pricing.
When Videngine is the wrong tool
Videngine is built for many narrated business videos, so a few jobs belong elsewhere.
- A birthday, wedding or holiday slideshow set to a song: a phone's photo app, iMovie, Google Photos or Canva does it free.
- Beat-synced edits, collages and grids: a timeline editor or a design tool.
- Motion that was never filmed: an AI image-to-video generator; see the best AI video generators.
- Narration in languages other than English: Videngine narrates in English only.
Questions about slideshow makers
What is the best AI slideshow maker?
It depends on the job. For one personal slideshow, a free phone or design app is enough; for a designed video edited by hand, a template tool fits; for a narrated video of every listing, product or page, an automated slideshow maker such as Videngine fits.
Can I make a slideshow video with music and narration?
Yes. For a business video, music usually works best as a quiet bed under a voiceover that carries the facts. Videngine adds an optional music bed under its narration; it does not make music-only slideshows set to a song.
How many photos do I need for a slideshow video?
As a rule of thumb, a 30-second slideshow uses six to nine photos and a 60-second one around twelve to sixteen, depending on how long the narration spends on each. Sharp photos matter more than many photos.
Can a slideshow work as a vertical video for Reels, Shorts and TikTok?
Yes, if landscape photos are framed for 9:16. Cropping can cut off the subject, so many tools place the photo over a blurred fill of itself instead, which is what Videngine does.
Is a slideshow the same as AI image to video?
No. A slideshow arranges real photos into a video, with motion added to each still. AI image-to-video invents new motion from one photo, which can look striking but may show things that are not really there.
