Videngine vs
Colossyan

Colossyan is an AI training video platform: avatar presenters, more than 100 languages, quizzes, branching and SCORM export for the LMS. Videngine turns documents, help pages and data into narrated, captioned videos from coded templates, many at a time, with no presenter on screen.

Videngine or Colossyan?

If you need a Colossyan alternative because every procedure, help article or product page needs its own narrated, captioned video, Videngine is built for that: it reads the source, writes the script or takes your approved one, voices it in English and renders it into your coded template, in batches. If your training needs a presenter on screen, other languages, quizzes, branching or SCORM tracking in an LMS, Colossyan is the better tool.

Deciding quickly. If learners need to see a presenter, answer questions or be tracked in your LMS, use Colossyan. If you need a plain narrated video for every document or page, reviewed and priced per video, use Videngine.

What each one is

Colossyan is a training video platform built around avatar presenters; Videngine is an engine that turns written sources into narrated videos without one.

Colossyan

Colossyan says its AI agents turn your existing content into videos and courses, for training employees, partners and customers. AI avatars present each video, from a library of more than 300, with voices in more than 100 languages.

Its agent, Cora, drafts a video from a doc, PDF, slide deck, URL or prompt. For a document it plans the video scene by scene, with citations back to the source, and asks you to approve every scene before anything renders. A Colossyan creator then adds quizzes, branching and buttons in its editor, translates the video and publishes it as an MP4, a share link or, on paid plans, a SCORM package for the LMS.

Videngine

Videngine is a programmatic video engine built and run by Wall & Fifth. Give it a document’s text pasted in or as markdown, a help-centre or intranet page by URL, or rows of CSV or JSON data, and it writes a script and timed scene plan, records the narration, transcribes captions from the finished audio and renders each scene from coded templates with your brand set once.

For training and how-to material, the explainer template uses chapter title cards, information cards and side-by-side comparison scenes, with narration over your own footage, screenshots or images. You can supply the script word for word, so approved text goes out as written, and every video is reviewed in the studio before release. More on training videos from your documents.

Narration is English only. Videngine is launching soon; plans start at $79 a month for 50 videos.

Videngine vs Colossyan, side by side

Colossyan leads on presenters, languages, interactivity and LMS delivery; Videngine leads on volume from existing sources, scripts kept word for word and a price per finished video.

Quizzes, branching and the LMS: where Colossyan is ahead

If a course has to check understanding, branch on a learner’s choice or report completions to an LMS, Colossyan does it and Videngine doesn’t.

Colossyan’s interactive videos add multiple-choice questions, branching scenes where the viewer picks a route, and buttons that jump to another scene. It exports to any SCORM-compliant learning platform as SCORM 1.2 or 2004 (4th edition), with bookmarking so learners can resume, and through SCORM or its Enterprise analytics it tracks clicks, completions and quiz results.

Two limits matter when planning a library. Interactive videos can be shared by link, embedded or exported as SCORM, but not downloaded as MP4. And SCORM export isn’t on the free plan: Professional includes 5 packages a month, Enterprise is unlimited.

Videngine makes linear videos: MP4 or WebM files with captions transcribed from the finished audio, burned in or as .srt. An LMS or intranet that accepts video files can host them, but Videngine won’t score a quiz or report a completion.

If you need those, build the course in a tool that does and use Videngine for the videos around it: the help-centre article, the intranet procedure, the product page a new customer reads first.

Turning 100 procedures into video

With Colossyan, 100 avatar-led procedure videos is close to 200 generated minutes, well past what Professional includes; with Videngine, it’s one batch run and a review queue on Growth.

Take an operations team with 100 standard operating procedures in its help centre, each needing a narrated SOP video of just under two minutes, in English, with no quiz.

In Videngine, the same library runs like this:

  1. Choose the sources. Pick the 100 procedure pages from your help centre’s sitemap, or upload a CSV or JSON file with one procedure per row.
  2. Write or supply the script. Each source gets a script and timed scene plan. Accept it, edit a line or paste the approved wording.
  3. Voice and caption. Narration follows your pronunciation lexicon, so product and system names are said correctly; captions are transcribed from the finished audio.
  4. Render. Batch jobs queue and run unattended; a one-minute 1080p video typically renders in a few minutes.
  5. Review. Approve each video in the studio. When a procedure changes, the rebuild is saved as a new version beside the original.
  6. Deliver. Download the MP4s, send them to Google Drive, queue them to YouTube as unlisted or private, or publish each into its page.

Close to 200 minutes is beyond Professional’s 30 minutes a month with NEO avatars and 10 with NEO 2: about five months of Professional, or an Enterprise plan. Professional also caps SCORM at 5 packages a month.

Which should you choose?

Choose Colossyan when the training needs a presenter, other languages or an LMS that scores and tracks; choose Videngine when every document or page needs its own narrated video.

Choose Colossyan if

  • Learners should see a presenter on screen
  • You train people in more than one language
  • Courses need quizzes, branching or clickable buttons
  • Your LMS needs SCORM packages and completion tracking
  • Your security review asks for SOC 2 Type II, SAML SSO and EU or US data residency

Choose Videngine if

  • Every procedure, help article or product page needs its own video
  • The approved script must go out word for word
  • Product and system names must be pronounced correctly
  • You want a price per finished video, not per minute
  • Videos should land in Google Drive, on YouTube or in the page they came from

Videngine is the wrong tool for a scored compliance course, a branching scenario, a multilingual rollout or a message that needs a face. It has no avatars, quizzes or SCORM, and narrates in English only. For those, Colossyan fits better, or Synthesia for presenter-led video. Questions

Is Videngine a Colossyan alternative?

For narrated, captioned videos made from documents, help pages or rows of data, yes: Videngine writes, voices and renders each one from its source, in batches, with every video reviewed before release. For avatar presenters, other languages, quizzes or SCORM courses, Colossyan is the better fit.

Does Videngine export SCORM or add quizzes?

No. Videngine makes linear MP4 or WebM videos and doesn’t produce SCORM packages, quizzes or branching, or track learners. Colossyan exports SCORM 1.2 and 2004 on its Professional and Enterprise plans, with quizzes, branching and tracking of clicks, completions and quiz results.

How much does Colossyan cost?

Colossyan’s pricing page lists a free Starter plan with no credit card required, and Professional at $59 a month on yearly billing, plus $30 a month for each additional member. Enterprise is priced by quote. Plans are measured in minutes of generated video a month, and watermark removal is listed from Professional.

Does Videngine have avatars or other languages?

No to both. Videngine shows your own images, screenshots and information cards, narrated in English with a house voice, another synthetic voice or your own recorded audio. Colossyan lists more than 300 avatars and more than 100 languages.

Which is the better AI training video generator?

It depends on what the training has to do. Colossyan suits courses that need a presenter, several languages, quizzes or LMS tracking. Videngine suits a library of narrated, captioned videos made from documents, help-centre pages or data, reviewed one by one and priced per finished video.
