Videngine vs
Renderforest

Renderforest gives you a library of animated templates to fill in by hand, and AI that drafts a video from a prompt. Videngine fills coded templates from your pages, listings and data, many at a time, narrated and captioned.

Videngine or Renderforest?

If you need a Renderforest alternative because the same kind of video has to be made for hundreds of pages, listings or products, Videngine is built for that job: it fills coded templates from your pages and data, many at a time, and every video comes out narrated and captioned. If you need one promo, an intro or a logo animation, Renderforest’s library of more than 1,000 animated templates is the better tool.

Deciding quickly. If a person will sit down and make this video once, use Renderforest. If the video repeats with different data each time, use Videngine.

What each one is

Renderforest is a creative suite for making one design at a time; Videngine is an engine that makes many videos from sources you already have.

Renderforest

Renderforest calls itself an AI creative platform for videos, images, designs and websites. Its core is a library of more than 1,000 video templates made by motion designers (its homepage says 1,200+): intros and logo reveals, explainers, promos, slideshows and music visualisers. Intros and logos is the largest category, with 860.

You pick a template, type into its text holders, fill its image holders, add music and a voiceover, then export. Renderforest AI is the newer layer: its AI video generator drafts a video from a prompt or script, with voiceovers in more than 50 languages and video models including Google Veo 3.1 and Kling 3.0. Around that sit a logo maker, an image generator, mockups, AI avatars and an AI website builder.

Videngine

Videngine is a programmatic video engine built and run by Wall & Fifth. Give it a web page, a listing, a product, an article or a row of data and it reads the source, writes a script, records the narration, transcribes captions from the finished audio and renders the source’s own pictures into your brand’s coded templates. It can read your sitemap so you can pick pages to turn into videos in batches. Every video is reviewed before it goes out.

There are no avatars, no stock library and no generated footage. That is programmatic video: the same template, filled from different data. Videngine is launching soon; plans start at $79 a month for 50 videos.

Two kinds of video template

Both are built on templates; the difference is who fills them in, and how often.

A Renderforest template is a designed animation with placeholders. A person opens it, picks scenes, types the words and adds pictures one holder at a time. A motion designer has already done the hard part, and you adjust it until it looks right. That makes it a good promo video maker or intro maker: a launch promo, a channel intro or a logo sting is made once and watched many times.

A Videngine template is code. Typefaces, colours, logo, safe areas and motion are set once as brand tokens, and the engine fills the template from a source: the listing’s photos, the product’s specifications, the article’s argument. Nobody types into a placeholder, so the hundredth video follows the same rules as the first. A photo that doesn’t fit the frame sits over a blurred fill of itself, so a landscape photo works in a 9:16 vertical uncropped.

Videngine vs Renderforest, side by side

Renderforest leads on range, languages and resolution; Videngine leads on volume, data inputs and consistency from one video to the next.

What 250 videos a month looks like

With Renderforest, 250 videos means 250 projects filled in the editor, or an integration built on its API; with Videngine, it is one batch run followed by a review queue.

Take a retailer that wants a narrated video ad for each of 250 product pages this month. Here is what each video needs.

StepRenderforest, in the editorVidengine
Starting pointA template, a preset, or a duplicate of an earlier projectA sitemap, a list of URLs, a CSV or a JSON payload
Words on screenTyped into each text holderTaken from the source and written into a script you can accept or edit
PicturesAdded to image holders one at a time, from uploads, stock or AI imagesPulled from the page or supplied with the data, then framed for each format
NarrationText-to-speech from a script you write, within a monthly allowance, or recorded audioWritten from the source and voiced with your pronunciation rules, or your own audio
When a price changesOpen the project, edit it, export againRe-render from the updated source; free for the same video in the month

None of those steps is hard in Renderforest. There are just a lot of them: at a quarter of an hour each, 250 projects is more than 60 hours of editing.

Its API changes that for teams with developers. It can create a project from a template, update the text and image URLs in its scenes and render it at up to 1080p. You write the code that maps your data to each template, on a plan with API enabled, within 60 requests per five minutes. We didn’t find text-to-speech or subtitles in the API reference.

In Videngine, the same month runs like this:

  1. Choose the sources. Pick the 250 product pages from your sitemap, or upload a CSV with one row per video.
  2. Let it write. Each page is read in a headless browser and a script and scene plan with timings is written. Accept it, edit a line or supply your own.
  3. Voice and caption. Narration follows your pronunciation lexicon and banned phrases; captions are transcribed from the finished audio.
  4. Render. Batch jobs queue and render unattended, in the formats you need.
  5. Review. Each video is approved in the studio; a rebuild is saved as a new version beside the original.
  6. Deliver. Download the MP4s, send them to Google Drive, publish to YouTube or, on a static site, publish each one into the page it came from.
Renderforest
Pro plan or above

Paid plans include unlimited exports of standard templates, so one Pro subscription covers 250 exports at 1080p. Its prices weren’t readable on its own pages. The larger cost is 250 projects filled by hand, or developer time on the API.

Videngine Growth
$249 a month

250 finished videos, with the script, narration, captions and batch runs from a CSV or JSON file included. Re-rendering the same video in the month is free.

Which should you choose?

Choose Renderforest when a person is making one designed video; choose Videngine when the same video has to be made for many pages or records.

Choose Renderforest if

  • You need one promo, intro, logo animation or explainer
  • Animated characters, whiteboard or music visualiser styles suit the job
  • You want to start on a free plan
  • You need 4K, or voiceovers in many languages
  • You also want a logo, mockups or a website from the same account

Choose Videngine if

  • Every page, product or listing needs the same kind of video
  • The video must show the item’s own photos and facts
  • Videos should be made in batches from a sitemap, CSV or JSON
  • Each one must be narrated, captioned and reviewed before it goes out
  • You want a price per finished video, with seats and brands included

Videngine is the wrong tool for a logo reveal, a channel intro, a wedding slideshow, a music visualiser or footage that doesn’t exist yet. It has no free plan, narrates in English only and renders up to 1080p. For those jobs, Renderforest’s templates or its AI video generator will get you further.

Plenty of teams would use both: a Renderforest intro for the brand channel, Videngine for the videos made from each page.

Questions

Is Videngine a Renderforest alternative?

For making many videos from pages, listings, products or data, yes: Videngine fills coded templates automatically and narrates and captions each video. For a single promo, intro or logo animation, Renderforest’s animated template library is the better fit, and Videngine doesn’t try to replace it.

How is Renderforest AI different from Videngine?

Renderforest’s AI video generator drafts a video from a prompt or script, using its own model or models such as Google Veo 3.1 and Kling 3.0 to create scenes. Videngine doesn’t generate footage: AI writes the script and the voice, and the pictures come from your source, rendered in coded templates. The first suits ideas; the second suits videos that must show real items and facts.

Can Renderforest make videos in bulk from a spreadsheet?

We didn’t find a CSV or spreadsheet batch feature in Renderforest’s app or help centre. Its developer API can create projects from a template, update their text and image URLs and render them, so a developer can build a bulk workflow on a plan with API enabled. Videngine runs batches from a CSV or JSON file on its Growth plan and above.

Does Renderforest’s free plan add a watermark?

Yes. Renderforest says free plan videos carry a Renderforest watermark and export at limited resolution, shown as HD 720 in its export window. Paid plans remove the watermark, and you can also buy a single HD 1080 export without subscribing.

Which costs less for 250 videos a month?

It depends on whose time you count. Renderforest’s paid plans include unlimited exports of standard templates, so the limit is the work: each video is filled by hand in the editor or by code you write against its API. Videngine’s Growth plan is $249 a month for 250 finished videos made in batches, with script, narration and captions included.
